Microbiological Laboratory
Townsville Laboratory Services is nationally recognised for microbiological testing, using membrane filtration and differential media for most testing methods.
TLS regularly completes biological monitoring of Townsville’s potable water system, reservoirs, dams and swimming pools.
Biological testing services offered by TLS include:
- E. coli (by membrane filtration and defined substrate technology)
- Thermotolerant (faecal) coliforms and total coliforms
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Enterococci
- Heterotrophic plate count (total plate count)
- Ultrapure water HPC AS/NZS Standard 4276.3.1 – 207
- Moulds and yeasts in water
- Sulfite reducing clostridia
TLS offers biological testing services for the following:
- Drinking water reticulation system monitoring
- Estuarine water samples
- Pools
- Groundwater catchment
- Irrigation
- Water for agricultural use
- Process water
- Sewage effluents
- Reverse osmosis process
- Environmental investigations
- Biosolids, sediments, sewage, sludge, soils, solid wastes and trade wastes
- Legionella analysis (AS3896 and ISO11731)
- Endotoxin by Limulus Amoebocyte Lysate method
TLS also provides NATA-accredited testing for Bacterial Endotoxins.
