Townsville City Council’s street art collection extends art experiences outside Council's buildings to activate community spaces, grow audiences and foster collaborative relationships.
Townsville’s city streets, laneways, and alleyways showcase a range of vibrant and innovative street art murals by local and internationally renowned artists such as ROA, HAHA, Claire Foxton, Nicky Bidju Pryor, Kennie Deaner and The RUN Collective.
Marabou Park Basketball Half-Court Artwork Design Competition
Townsville City Council is once again on the hunt for a local art enthusiast to help design a basketball half-court!
Are you a budding artist? Do you have creative flair?
Use your imagination to create bold shapes and patterns, then enter your design and you could see your artwork come to life and be painted straight onto the existing court at Marabou Park!
Entries close: 10am, Wednesday 20 November 2024 (AEST / UTC +10).
Please note:
- maximum 3 entries per person
- entries are limited to Townsville residents only
- before applying, please read the Terms and Conditions (PDF, 262.5 KB)
- applications must use the Basketball Half-Court Template and Available Colour Chart (PDF, 119.5 KB).
Willowbank Park Basketball Half-Court Design Competition - NOW CLOSED
Congratulations to the winner, Kennie Deaner on your fantastic basketball half-court artwork design. The winning design will be painted onto the Willowbank Basketball court from November to December 2024, weather pending.

Local Street Artist Call Out!
Townsville City Council is looking for local street artists to expand the existing street art trail and further activate the city. If you’re a local professional or emerging street artist who would like to be considered for future street art projects and professional development opportunities, please register your details:
Artists who submit their details will be recorded in the Townsville City Galleries, Local Street Artist Registry.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists are encouraged to apply.

The Street Art Toolkits aim to take a proactive approach to street art initiatives throughout Townsville.
The Property owner toolkit provides information to property owners on how to find and commission a street artist whereas, the Artist toolkit guides artists on how to get their street art approved.
