Anzac Memorial Park

General Information

Anzac Memorial Park is located at the eastern end of the Strand foreshore, at the frontage to the Breakwater marina and has become the formal and civic commemorative park in Townsville.

The Garden of Remembrance was constructed in 2005 and consists of walls bearing plaques commemorating anyone who died in war of a war-related illness. There is a covered sitting area next to the gardens to allow people to sit and view the plaques.

Name History

The Strand Park was renamed the Anzac Memorial Park by Council following a request made by the Returned Servicemen’s League on 12 December 1933.

This park is suitable for weddings and other ceremonies.
