Project Background

Townsville City Council is replacing an aging 100 mm-diameter water main along the footpath of the eastern side of Riverway Drive from Allambie Lane to Jennifer Street, Kelso.

This project is part of our annual Capital Works program, essential for maintaining Council-controlled assets like the city's water network. We aim to ensure that we meet the community's water supply needs and continue supporting the growth of our region.

Council is undertaking these works concurrently with the Queensland Government's Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) Riverway Drive Stage 2 project.

Project Overview

As part of this project, Council will:

  • excavate and install a temporary on-ground poly water pipe to maintain water supply to houses
  • excavate and remove the existing aging water main
  • construct a new 100mm diameter water main, including new water connections and fire hydrants.
