Get Active Clubs funding workshop to open doors for local clubs
Date published: 19 March 2025
Council is inviting representatives from local sporting clubs to learn how to get the most out of fundraising efforts, grants and programs through their upcoming Get Active Clubs – Funding Workshop.
Acting Mayor Ann-Maree Greaney said the workshop to be held next Tuesday 25 March would guide sporting clubs through fundraising strategies, opportunities and workshops.
“We have so many amazing sporting clubs here in Townsville and while they all may differ in their own way, one thing they have in common is the need for adequate funding,” Cr Greaney said.
“We’re really excited to share our collective knowledge on how to best position your club through strategic funding, whether it be applying for the most suitable grants, getting involved in programs or initiatives or fundraising strategies.”
Councillor Greaney said gaining insight from a panel of experts including members from Australian Sports Foundation, the Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Council’s Sport and Active Lifestyles team would give clubs the best chance at building their funding streams in years to come.
“Running a sporting club is no easy, or cheap exercise, so to be in the room with industry experts will help to break down barriers and hopefully open some eyes as to what is out there and available,” she said.
The workshop will be held from 6 to 7:30pm on Tuesday 25 March at the Von Stieglitz Meeting Room, Citylibraries Riverway, 20 Village Boulevard, Thuringowa Central. Registrations close 11:59pm on Thursday 20 March 2025.
