The First Nations community is invited to join Townsville Citylibraries’ Deadly Digital workshops to preserve and share cultural knowledge for generations to come.
The free digital literacy workshops will include training in devices, how to record oral history, editing recordings, filming and more.
Townsville Acting Mayor Ann-Maree Greaney said these workshops were part of Townsville City Council’s commitment to culture.
“Preserving family history and cultural knowledge is vitally important for our future generations, which is why the Citylibraries team is so excited to be delivering these workshops for our First Nations community,” Cr Greaney said.
“These workshops will help participants create oral presentations and safely store them, making sure important stories and information are documented for participants’ descendants to listen and learn from.”
The Deadly Digital workshops kick off from Tuesday April 22 and run weekly until Tuesday June 24, with each session teaching the next step in using digital tools to record oral history.
All equipment will be provided and bookings are required.
Deadly Digital Communities is an initiative of the Queensland Government’s Our Thriving Digital Future: Queensland’s Digital Economy Strategy and is proudly supported by State Library of Queensland.
