Fe-line lonely? Council’s lucky black cat sale will do the trick

Date published: 11 September 2024

With Friday the 13th just around the corner, more than 15 black cats are screaming ‘get meow-t of here’ at the Townsville Animal Care and Adoption Centre.

Deputy Mayor and Divisional Councillor Paul Jacob said this weekend was the paw-fect opportunity to score yourself a fur-ever friend with all black cats and kittens to be sold for $50 on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 September 2014.

“Some people are quite superstitious when it comes to black cats, so there are great cats and kittens that aren’t being taken home because some people still believe they are a symbol for bad luck,” Cr Jacob said.

“While the superstitions simply aren’t true, we want to do everything in our power to get these animals adopted and into loving homes.

“That’s why all black cat and kitten adoptions will only be $50 from Friday 13 until Saturday 14 September.”

Cr Jacob said there were plenty of happy and healthy cats ready to find their fur-ever homes.

“All cats and kittens available for adoption are de-sexed, wormed, microchipped and have had their first vaccination,” he said.

To meet some of the cats and kittens up for adoption, visit the Animal Care and Adoption Centre in Shaw.

The $50 Lucky Black Cat sale runs from Friday 13 September until Saturday 14 September.
