Get your hands dirty for Tropical Tree Day

Divisional councillor, Brady Ellis said the planting would take place at Vivienne Lyons Park at Cungulla from 9am to 10am and would help maintain the health of the beach by planting native species along the foreshore.

“This Tropical Tree Day we’re hoping with the help of the local community to plant more than 200 native plants at Cungulla,” Cr Ellis said.

“With each species planted we can help prevent coastal erosion and provide an improved habitat for native wildlife.

“By giving up an hour of your day you can create huge benefits for our natural environment, which is why I’d love to see our community throw their support behind this great initiative.

“We’ll have refreshments on site and a native plant for you to take home as a thank you for your efforts. All the tools you’ll need will be provided, just make sure you have enclosed shoes, sun-safe clothing and a water bottle with you.

“If you can’t make it to Council’s event, you can sign up to host your own. Just head to treeday.planetark.org to host your own planting session.”
