High tides expected tomorrow

Townsville City Council has encouraged residents in low-lying areas to take precautions ahead of Thursday's high tide.
The tide is forecast to reach a peak of 3.81m at 9:07am tomorrow (Thursday, 11 January 2023), 3.89m at 9:49am on Friday 12 January and 3.87m at 10:33am on Saturday 13 January.
Council recommends residents in areas that are prone to minor flooding during the tides take necessary precautions.
Suburbs like South Townsville and Railway Estate may be impacted.
Motorists are asked to observe any warnings and road closures.

From 11 January, due to current weather forecast of rainfall and high tides, free sand will be provided at the following locations:
Kelso - Ross River Dam Carpark
Garbutt - 113 Dalrymple Service Road, out the front of the Townsville City Council depot
Hermit Park - Corner of Brodie and Boundary Streets, behind Officeworks
Members of the public are reminded to bring their own sandbags and shovels to fill the sandbags.
