Rate and Utility Notices start hitting letterboxes, inboxes
Date published: 2 February 2024
Townsville property owners are reminded to check their letterboxes and inboxes as Rate and Utility Notices have been issued.
If you’re a ratepayer who has signed up to eNotices, remember to check your junk email folder.
Notices are issued twice a year and are one of the main sources of income for local governments and are necessary to help maintain the services and infrastructure the community expects.
Townsville City Council is responsible for maintaining a road network greater than the distance between Cairns and Brisbane, the largest pipe and irrigation network in the southern hemisphere and more than 380 parks and open spaces.
Council has several payment options available including credit card, BPAY, direct debit, via Australia Post, over the phone or in person.
Property owners can also receive a discount on their rates and utilities if they pay before 11 March 2024.
Eligible pensioners are also entitled to an 85 per cent concession, up to a maximum value of $800 per year, on general rates.
Property owners can enter a payment plan with Council if they are having difficulties paying their Rates and Utilities Notice and can also check their balance at any time of the year with Council’s Check Your Rates Balance tool.
The online tool has had more than 40,000 visits since it launched mid last year.
