Jezzine Boardwalk upgrade starts next week

Date published: 22 August 2024

One of Townsville’s most well-used pathways is getting a facelift as work starts on the Jezzine Boardwalk platform decking upgrade.

The decking upgrade will be delivered in stages to allow the full boardwalk to be open before 6am and after 4pm daily during the project.

Divisional councillor Ann-Maree Greaney said the Jezzine Boardwalk was widely loved by the Townsville community and visitors.

“Jezzine Boardwalk is a popular spot for runners, walkers and families to take in the stunning Townsville coastline and Magnetic Island,” Cr Greaney said.

“We’ll be delivering the boardwalk upgrades in stages, ensuring the entire boardwalk is available for use before 6am and after 4pm.

“Replacing the decking will give the entire area a visual boost and provide a safe and comfortable surface for visitors to use.

“The project is expected to take about eight weeks to complete, weather and conditions permitting. I’d like to extend my thanks to residents and visitors of the area for their patience during this time.”

The Jezzine Boardwalk platform decking upgrade starts on Monday 26 August. For more information about the project, visit the  Works and Road Closures page.
