Townsville Civic Theatre one stop entertainment shop this August

Townsville Civic Theatre will be the home of entertainment this August with a stellar line up of theatre, music and laughs.
The month kicks off with Red Line Productions’ JUST (tricking, annoying, stupid, crazy, disgusting, shocking, doomed) LIVE ON STAGE! on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 August, taking on the wonderful world of the JUST books by Andy Griffiths, bringing them to life on stage with everything from invisibility pills to death-defying balloon rides.
Dead Puppet Society will bring its new show ISHMAEL to Townsville Civic Theatre for two performances on Wednesday August 16, revamping the Herman Melville classic Moby Dick.
Hugely popular psychic-medium Peter Williams is bringing his event Peter Williams Medium Live to Civic Theatre’s C2 space on Saturday 19 August, promising to amaze and uplift audiences.
Morning Melodies welcomes internationally-acclaimed Queensland concert pianist John Granger Fisher on Wednesday 23 August, with Fisher performing the Beethoven Moonlight Sonata, as well as works by Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, Schubert, Debussy, Rachmaninov and more.
Delve into the history of Australia with This Is Us, a suite of music inspired by objects in the National Museum of Australia’s collection, performed by acclaimed guitarists Slava and Leonard Grigoryan in their show Grigoryan Brothers This Is Us: A Musical Reflection of Australia on Friday 25 August.
Triple Grammy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir brings its all-new concert Hope to Townsville Civic Theatre on Tuesday 29 August. The production includes a rousing program of South African freedom songs, protest music of the US Civic Rights Movement, and the works of legendary artists James Brown, Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin.
Mayor Jenny Hill said there was something for everyone at Townsville Civic Theatre this August.
“August is a huge month for theatre and music in Townsville. No matter what you’re into, you’ll be able to find a great night out for you and your friends or family this month,” Cr Hill said.
“As a city we’re proud to be a sustainable destination that embraces the arts and events, which is why we’re thrilled to have these incredible touring acts from across the country and the world joining us at our world-class Townsville Civic Theatre.

Townsville Civic Theatre is all-abilities accessible, with parking, seating and toilets all accessible for wheelchair users.
Food and drinks are available before the show and during intermission at The Bar in the theatre’s forecourt.
