Riverway Movie Nights returns with Epic Tails
Date published: 20 July 2023
Travel back in time to ancient Greece as Townsville City Council’s Riverway Movie Nights screens the animated family-friendly movie Epic Tails.
The free movie night is held on the third Friday of each month and returns to Riverway Oval this Friday from 6:30pm.
The film is set in Yolcos, a beautiful and prosperous port city in ancient Greece and follows a young, adventurous mouse and the cat who adopted her in their bid to save their city.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said families can bring their own popcorn and treats or get a bite to eat from the food truck before enjoying the open-air cinema.
“It’s a relaxed movie night where you can enjoy time with family or friends under the stars to kick off the weekend,” Cr Greaney said.
“Council is pleased to present this free event, which is always well supported by young people in Townsville.
“The event is open to everyone of all ages and all abilities with easy access to the oval and accessible toilets nearby.”
Council invites everyone to explore the popular walking loop around the Ross River, check out what CityLibraries Riverway is offering and immerse themselves in the artwork at Pinnacles Gallery.
Riverway Movie Nights is one of several Council-run events and initiatives for the youth of our city to provide them with an opportunity to connect with the wider community.
It’s also one of the more than 60 inclusive events Council delivers each year for the community.
These events include Ephemera: Seaside Sculptures, Our Townsville, NAFA, Carols by Candlelight and Townsville Eats while Council is also always working to attract a range of other events for Townsville residents.
