Find new ways to get active this year at Townsville’s City Council’s Get Active Sign On this Friday.
More than 80 local sports clubs and health and fitness providers and organisations will be at the brand-new event at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.
Community Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability Committee chairperson Maurie Soars said the Get Active Sign On was the easiest way to find a new hobby.
“There are so many interesting sports and physical activities available in Townsville, and now the Get Active Sign On is bringing them all together to make it easier than ever to learn more and sign up,” Cr Soars said.
“The city prides itself on being a sustainable destination that embraces and participates in sports and recreational activities, and the proof is in the players. We have all football codes, netball teams, swimming competitors, cricket hopefuls and more.
“Our city is also home to incredible scenery, making hiking, kayaking, dragon boat racing, nature walking and sailing so attractive to locals across Townsville who want to soak in the great views while being active.
“There are dozens upon dozens of ways to kickstart your hobbies and activities this year, so head along to the Get Active Sign On to check out the options available.”
The Get Active Sign On will be held from 4pm to 8pm at Queensland Country Bank Stadium this Friday. Entry is free.
