Cutler Footway makes Perc Tucker return with Facing North

A new exhibition created on a North Queensland verandah will showcase an array of Burdekin locals drawn by nationally-renowned artist Cutler Footway.
Facing North: Cutler Footway opens at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery next Friday as part of Council’s $32.3 million commitment to arts, culture and events.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said the exhibition mapped the artist’s past two decades of practice into a cohesive experience.
“Cutler Footway’s work Jack Betteridge Costumed as an Elf was selected as the winner of the Percival Portrait Painting Prize 2020, so it’s great to have his work in the gallery again,” Cr Greaney said.
“This exhibition is a really interesting look into the artist’s balance between capturing the likeness of his sitters while evoking the natural environment of Ayr and the process of life drawing.
“Facing North is a colourful and exciting exhibition and I know that artists and creatives in particular will really enjoy the technical aspects of Footway’s life drawings.”
Facing North: Cutler Footway opens at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery 6pm Friday 16 September.
Join a public talk with the artist and gain an insight into his creative process from 11am to midday on Saturday September 17 at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery.
Facing North: Cutler Footway will be on display until Sunday 27 November. Entry is free.
