Professional Bull Riders Australia will deliver the PBR Grand Final for the next three years with the support of Townsville City Council’s event sponsorship.
Council’s sponsorship was endorsed at today’s Ordinary Council meeting.
The PBR Grand Final 2021 ran across two days and attracted about 6000 direct visitor nights for Townsville, with an average daily spend of $224 per overnight visitor.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said Council was proud to sponsor the PBR Grand Final across the next three years.
“Council is focused on growing Townsville into a sustainable destination that embraces and participates in sports, events and recreational activities, which is why we’re pleased to be supporting the PBR Grand Final through a three-year sponsorship,” Cr Greaney said.
“The grand final is last stop of a 12-month tour with both national and international riders who are vying for the prestigious Gold Buckle and the Australian Championship Title.
“As a city we’re primed to host the event, with venues, accommodation and other recreational activities available for both competitors and visitors.
“This activation of our city’s hotels, eateries and tourism businesses is valuable to local operators and I’ll be pleased to see the benefits of hosting this event through to 2025.”
The sponsorship value includes $210,000 and $30,000 worth of in-kind marketing.
