Two popular parks up for renewal in Townsville
Date published: 15 March 2022
Townsville City Council is planning future park and playground renewals across the city and wants your feedback on Douglas’s Riverside Green Park and Kirwan’s Thuringowa Park.
The consultation will help Council understand which features residents use and what they would like to see included in future upgrades at the parks.
Planning and Development Committee chairperson Mark Molachino said it was important for Council to hear from the people who used the two parks.
“Council manages more than 320 parks across the city and it’s important that we continue to renew these green spaces to make them as beneficial as possible for the people who visit them,” Cr Molachino said.
“Each year, Council identifies parks that need renewing so they can continue to enhance the active and healthy lifestyle across our city.
“We want to hear from people who live close to or use Riverside Green Park and Thuringowa Park so we can assess which features work well and ways we can improve the parks for the benefit of the community.
“Open spaces are part of what makes Townsville a vibrant place to live and Council is keen to hear from residents so they can help shape their local parks.”
