Shift your perspective of The Strand with new augmented reality trail
Date published: 25 January 2022
Discover a new side of The Strand at the interactive and free Australia Day Augmented Reality Walking Trail.
Running from Australia Day until Monday 28 February 2022, the augmented reality trail allows families to chase a coral trout, fly a kite, spot playing dolphins and enjoy artworks by Sabine Carter.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said the augmented reality trail put a new spin on one of the city’s most popular spots.
“To use this awesome trail you just have to download the TCC Interactive app on your smartphone to get started. Using the app, you’ll be able to see digital images appear on your phone as if they’re part of the physical world,” Cr Greaney said.
“Council has embraced augmented reality during the past couple of years – it’s featured in our street art trail our Water Smart Garden at Anderson Gardens, and it’s been part of our Christmas celebrations. We’re excited to see the reactions from the public when they get to enjoy more exciting augmented reality along The Strand.
“We’d love to see your experience, so make sure you take a screenshot or a video via the app and share it on your social media. Don’t forget to tag Council for a chance to be featured on our Instagram stories.”
The Australia Day Augmented Reality Walking Trail opens on Australia Day and runs until Monday 28 February 2022. For more information or to download the TCC Interactive app, head to Australia Day AR Walking Trail.
