King tides expected from this weekend

Townsville City Council is encouraging residents in low-lying areas to take precautions ahead of the king tides expected from this weekend.
The king tides are predicted from Sunday and will reach a peak of 4.1m at 9:26am on Tuesday 1 February 2022.
Council recommends that residents in areas that are prone to minor flooding during the tides move valuables and their cars to protect them from the salt water.
Suburbs such as South Townsville and Railway Estate may be impacted, along with Hanran Street and Ogden Street in the city.
Motorists are asked to observe any warnings and road closures.

- 4.1m on Tuesday 1 February 2022 at 9:26am
