Get Active Expo postponed

Townsville City Council’s Get Active Expo, which was to be held this Sunday (January 16) at the Murray Sporting Complex, will be postponed to a future date.

Acting Mayor Ann-Maree Greaney said the decision to postpone the event was taken because of the evolving situation with the COVID-19 pandemic and following feedback from exhibitors.

“Our Get Active Expo is a very popular event which aims to promote the benefits of getting active and keeping your mind and body healthy,” Cr Greaney said.

“However, with increased community transmission of COVID-19 and feedback received from exhibitors that they may not be able to get enough volunteers to support their displays and make the event as successful as possible, it is prudent for Council to postpone the event at this time.”
