King tide expected this weekend
Date published: 23 December 2022
Townsville City Council is encouraging residents in low-lying areas to take precautions ahead of the king tide expected from this weekend.
The king tide is forecast to reach a peak of 3.82mm at 9:53am on Saturday 24 December 2022.
Council recommends that residents in areas that are prone to minor flooding during the tides move valuables and their cars to protect them from the salt water.
Suburbs like South Townsville and Railway Estate may be impacted, along with Hanran Street and Ogden Street in the city.
Motorists are asked to observe any warnings and road closures.
