Tune up your lunchtime with Music in the City’s return
Date published: 14 October 2021
Enjoy your lunch in the city with free live performances when Music in the City returns to the CBD this Friday.
The free lunchtime concert series is shifting into Flinders Lane to give people in the city a vibrant way to pass their lunchtime.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said this was a great initiative for the inner-city.
“If you’re a worker in the CBD, this is a great excuse to get out of the office and enjoy some fresh air and live music,” Cr Greaney said.
“I’d also encourage young families and retirees to make the most of these free concerts and enjoy Music in the City as well as everything the CBD has to offer.
“This is a great way to help activate the city during the week and to get more foot traffic into our local businesses.”
Cr Greaney said Music in the City started in 2013 and ran successfully for a number of years.
“Music in the City has been a much-loved instalment in our CBD and it’ll be great to reinvigorate the concert series this month,” she said.
“We have so much local talent here in Townsville that will help make our city centre even more vibrant and attractive.”
Music in the City kicks off with a performance by Tony Wood at midday on Friday October 15 at Flinders Lane.
