North Queensland Ceramic Awards 2022 nominations open
Date published: 5 November 2021
One of the country’s leading ceramics art awards with a major acquisitive prize of $10,000 is now accepting nominations from creators across the nation and abroad.
The biennial North Queensland Ceramic Awards will be shown at Perc Tucker Regional Gallery next year, with artists having until 15 April 2022 to get their applications in.
Mayor Jenny Hill said the North Queensland Ceramic Awards were part of Council’s $40 million commitment to delivering major arts and culture and events across the city.
“Council is proud to be able to deliver another iteration of the North Queensland Ceramic Awards in 2022,” Cr Hill said.
“Townsville is the arts and culture capital of Northern Australia. Hosting a locally-grown arts competition with some of the country’s leading ceramicists as past winners just shows how well-earned that title is.”
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said the competition welcomed almost 100 entries last year.
“Each year, our team has a wealth of highly-regarded ceramic works submitted for consideration. The exhibition is a showcase in just how diverse ceramic art practice is in Australia,” Cr Greaney said.
“The major acquisitive prize for the North Queensland Ceramic Awards is $10,000, so this is a very attractive prize for both established artists as well as emerging artists from across the nation.
“There are still a few months to finalise your work and submit it for entry into the awards, so jump online to check the selection criteria.”
The North Queensland Ceramic Awards nominations are open until Friday 15 April 2022.
