Mayor’s Christmas Appeal surpasses $30k
Date published: 26 November 2021
With one month to go before Christmas, the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal has collected more than $30,000 in generous donations, however Townsville businesses are still being urged to dig deep to make this Christmas brighter for those in need.
This year’s appeal is giving recipients the power to choose what they need most this Christmas by gifting them Christmas vouchers that can be used at select grocery stores.
Mayor Jenny Hill said it was heartening to see local businesses throw their support behind this year’s appeal.
“I am pleased to have so many businesses already doing their part to help us make Christmas brighter for those doing it tough this year,” Cr Hill said.
“To have more than $30,000 in the trust at this point is fantastic, but we want to see that figure grow in the coming weeks.
“The money will go towards Christmas vouchers that will be distributed to approved North Queensland charities to give to individuals and families in need.
“If you’re a business owner, please consider making a donation to the appeal to help spread the Christmas spirit this festive season.”
