The Fringe Force volunteer program wants you

Townsville City Council wants you to join the Fringe Force to be part of North Queensland’s biggest arts festival.
Volunteers will have the chance to help out with onsite setup, show assistance, mascot appearances and more at the Northern Fringe Festival.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said volunteering was a great way for locals to help the success of the festival.
“Northern Fringe Festival is an incredible collection of local and national acts bringing the best of comedy, cabaret, dance, music, theatre and more to Townsville audiences,” Cr Greaney said.
“By volunteering, you’ll be able to help ensure that the festival goes off without a hitch.
“You’ll also have the chance to gain a deeper understanding of the mechanics behind pulling off an incredible city-wide festival, whether that’s through helping set up for shows, by walking our mascot Pinocchi through crowds, or through lending a hand before and after showtimes.
“This isn’t just a once-off opportunity – it’s a chance to be part of a tight-knit artistic community. We want our volunteers to come back year after year to celebrate the best of Townsville’s arts and culture with us.”
Cr Greaney said there were a few requirements needed for volunteers.
“We need volunteers who are at least 18 years old, are fit enough to safely bend, squat, twist and turn, and who have access to transport to attend their scheduled volunteer shifts,” she said.
“We want people who also have positive attitudes, who can communicate well, and who are able to take direction.
“All volunteers must be free from drugs and alcohol.”
