A development application for a retirement village along Golf Links Drive has been recommended for approval.
The application proposes a two-stage development that includes 73 units that back on to the Brothers League Club in Kirwan.
Planning and Development Committee chairperson Les Walker said it was encouraging to see development applications still being submitted despite COVID-19.
“I think its really encouraging to see development applications being submitted for job-creating and community-building projects despite the impact COVID-19 has had around the world,” Cr Walker said.
“This development proposal would provide residential properties for elderly residents that is close to shopping, medical care and social activities.
“Conditions have been included to minimise the impact on the nearby residents and an access road will be built and maintained by the developer.”
The development application received one submission which has been addressed by the developer and Council officers.
The application will go to Full Council for consideration on 22 September and if endorsed, will require further construction approvals before the development can begin.
