Townsville City Council apprentices take out top trade accolades
Date published: 15 October 2020
Three Townsville City Council apprentices have taken out four incredible accolades at the 2020 Townsville Trade Excellence Awards this month.
Lachie Lowe was awarded the Electrical and Refrigeration Apprentice of the Year as well as the event’s top commendation, the Outstanding Apprentice of the Year Award.
Abi Winter was named the Automotive and Engineering Apprentice of the Year and Taylor Cox picked up the Building and Construction Apprentice of the Year Award.
Mayor Jenny Hill said this was a fantastic result for the three apprentices and their workmates.
“We are very proud of the achievements of Abi, Taylor and Lachie. Being recognised as the best apprentices in their fields is a great honour for them, and also for Council,” Cr Hill said.
“Council is proud to have a diverse range of apprenticeship and traineeship programs to help provide job opportunities and retain local talent here in Townsville.
“A special mention has to be made to Lachie, as he has not only been named as apprentice of the year for his area of expertise, but as the city’s outstanding apprentice of the year. This is a great achievement, well done Lachie.”
