Take the pledge to save thousands of litres of water using simple tricks around your house or business this National Water Week.
Townsville City Council is encouraging locals to get behind the theme of 'Reimagining our Water Future' by taking a pledge to help reduce long-term stress on the city’s water resources.
Deputy Mayor Mark Molachino said there were enormous water savings to be achieved through simple changes and checks in locals’ homes, gardens and businesses.
“Townsville is a dry tropics city with intermittent and often unreliable rain fall. Educating residents to understand what that means in terms of how our personal water use impacts on supply is an important piece of work that Council continues to focus on,” Cr Molachino said.
“It’s easier to be water wise than most people realise. Small things like only using the washing machine when there’s a full load can save more than 20,000 litres of water a year.
“We all need to do our part to help conserve water. Signing up to take the pledge is easy, and when you play your part to reduce water use this National Water Week, you will also go in the running to win some great prizes.”
Anyone who signs up to take the pledge will be in the draw to win one of six $150 gift vouchers and one $600 gift voucher for products that will help residents make their homes or businesses more water smart.
These prizes will be drawn daily during National Water Week.
