More than $100,000 in grant and partnership applications have been approved at today’s Townsville City Council meeting.
Stable on the Strand will receive a $50,000 grant; NAIDOC Week will receive $22,556, and Bluewater Community Association will receive $17,850.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said the three organisations were working to create important events for the community.
“I’m very pleased with the quality of the grant applications we’ve received for our quarterly grant funding round,” Cr Greaney said.
“Stable on the Strand is innovating its Christmastime offering by transforming into Stable on the Street in December.
“NAIDOC is embracing digital with virtual flag-raising ceremonies and Elders luncheon, while Bluewater Community Group is trialling a 12-month pilot project for youth living in the Bluewater and Rollingstone area to keep them engaged and on track for positive outcomes.
“These are fantastic initiatives that will have really positive effects on our community.”
Sustainable Schools Network, Townsville BMX Club, Blaze Dragons, Magnetic Island Outrigger Canoe Club and University of the Third Age have had their grants under $5000 awarded.
