Further closures to minimise spread of COVID-19
Date published: 30 March 2020
Townsville City Council will be closing more facilities today due to new restrictions imposed by the Australian Government to assist in minimising the spread of COVID-19.
All public playgrounds, outdoor gym equipment, skateparks and dog parks will be closed from midnight tonight.
Residents are asked to comply with the direction of the Federal Government and continue to practice social distancing.
Townsville City Council is also reassuring residents that it is continuing to deliver essential services across the community during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus.
Crews will continue to collect waste, fix roads, and maintain water and wastewater systems throughout the new lockdown rules.
Residents should continue to place their rubbish bins on the kerb by 6am on their regular bin day.
Anyone seeking more information about council’s services should call 13 48 10.
