A quick drive or ride up Castle Hill is back on the cards from next week with the road reopening to traffic on Monday at 5pm.
Townsville City Council is reopening the road to vehicles and bicycles following the State Government’s revised stage 2 easing of restrictions being move to this week.
Mayor Jenny Hill said the gradual reopening of gyms and walking tracks means the road can now be reopened to normal traffic.
“Council closed the road in an effort to keep pedestrians safe while they used Castle Hill to exercise and practiced social distancing,” Cr Hill said.
“Now that the tracks have reopened and gyms can reopen this week, it’s time that we reopened the road to vehicles and bicycles.
“I would urge everyone using the road to be vigilant and take care, it will continue to be busy on Castle Hill thanks to this fantastic weather and the last thing anyone wants is any accidents to occur.”
