Sturt Street partially reopened to traffic
Date published: 28 January 2020
Townsville City Council has reopened one inbound lane and both outbound lanes of Sturt Street.
The road was closed to traffic due to minor rock slips on the cutting.
Geotechnical engineers have been onsite to inspect the area and make sure it is safe for residents.
One lane is likely to remain closed until later this week when the rain subsides, and a full inspection can be completed.
Community safety is the number one priority for Council, and we thank everyone for their patience while the roads were cleared this morning.
Council is asking all road users to remain vigilant, obey all road signs and drive to the conditions. If it’s flooded, forget it.
