Free two hour parking in Townsville CBD all month
Date published: 2 December 2020
Yule be able to deck the halls of your home with Christmas goods after shopping in the Townsville CBD next month thanks to Townsville City Council’s free two-hour parking initiative.
All two-hour parking spaces will be free to park in for all of December, with no ticket required – just remember to stick to the two-hour limit.
Business Services and Finance Committee chairperson Kurt Rehbein said the initiative was popular in the past and a great way to bring more visitors into the city centre.
“Council is always focused on activating the Townsville CBD and having free two-hour parking is one way to make sure we have plenty of visitors to the area to enjoy our local businesses,” Cr Rehbein said.
“To take advantage of our free two-hour parking, just make sure you’re parked in a spot that has a 2P sign. There’s no need to get a ticket, just make sure you move your car when your two hours are up.”
Local councillor Ann-Maree Greaney said there were plenty of fantastic businesses in the CBD that locals and tourists could enjoy.
“Whether you’re shopping for a Christmas gift, something special for yourself, or you just want to enjoy a meal out, there’s something for everyone in the city centre,” Cr Greaney said.
“Make the most of the free parking and make a retailer’s day by choosing to shop local.”
