Development application for food and drink outlets and carwash approved for West End

A development application for three food and drink outlets and a carwash in West End has been approved at Townsville City Council’s Full Council meeting today.
The approval is for land along Ingham Road that has been vacant since the previous buildings were removed prior to 1999.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said it’s great to see job creating developments coming to the city.
“This specific lot has been vacant for 20 years now, and I think it’s good to see new developments that will create jobs for our community, utilising these spaces,” Cr Hill said.
“We are conscious that there are residents that live close by, which is why there are conditions being implemented to minimise any impact on them.
“This includes conditions to reduce the impact of traffic and noise from the carwash on neighbouring residences, limiting the operating hours of the food and drink outlets, and increasing lighting in the area to deter crime.
“Developments such as these mean jobs, not just in the construction phase of the project, but also long-term hospitality jobs, so it is good for the growth of our city.”
