Community organisations are set to receive more than $100,000 in grant funding and fee waivers.
The funding was approved at Townsville City Council’s Full Council meeting yesterday with the Rotary Clubs of Townsville Markets, North Queensland Touch Football and Volunteering North Queensland all successful applicants.
Community and Cultural Development Committee chairperson Ann-Maree Greaney said community organisations are a vital part of the community and she is happy to be able to support them.
“Organisations such as Rotary, Volunteering NQ and NQ Touch Football are providing support and holding events that the community can benefit greatly from,” Cr Greaney said.
“Rotary has received funding to continue to host the much-loved Strand Night Markets throughout 2021.
“North Queensland Touch are hosting their Junior State Cup, which is a 3-day tournament where over 1,700 junior players and their supporters will compete against one another.
“Volunteering NQ are looking to host training for their volunteers to increase their capacity and ability to assist the community.”
The Townsville Waterski Club, St Vincent De Paul Society Queensland, Townsville Little Theatre Group, Rollingstone District Community Association and Rupertswood Progress and Sporting Association have had their grants under $5000 awarded.
