Date published: 13 September 2019
Townsville is playing host to the International Cities, Town Centres and Communities (ICTC) Conference in October this year.
The ICTC Conference brings together experts in placemaking, architecture, sustainability, planning and much more.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said hosting the ICTC Conference is a significant milestone for the city.
“Townsville is on the cusp of a major transformation and we are on the right track to become an innovation and sustainability hub,” Cr Hill said.
“To host the ICTC Conference is a fantastic opportunity for our innovators, local businesses and industry groups to learn from industry experts.
“I’d really encourage everyone involved in this space to register and go along – there is such a wealth of knowledge on offer.”
The focus for the 2019 ICTC Conference is Transformative Cities: Innovative, Connected and Resilient.
Cr Hill said this theme is particularly relevant for Townsville both as it grows and due to the challenges faced in 2019.
“Townsville has so many projects launching across the city including our Smart Precinct, the new North Queensland Stadium, the Lansdown Precinct which are all massive steps towards economic growth.
“We also have first-hand experience in dealing with a major disaster and building our city back more resilient than ever.
“The work we’ve done in placemaking, sustainability, smart cities and disaster recovery and resilience played a major part in attracting this renowned conference to Townsville.”
