Give a black cat a fur-ever home this week

Townsville City Council is giving the community the purr-fect chance to add a furry friend to their lives with a Lucky Black Cat sale on all black cats and kittens.
The 50 per cent-off sale is an op-paw-tunity to help get the Animal Care and Adoption Centre’s 26 black cats into new homes.
Community Health and Environment Committee Chair Cr Ann-Maree Greaney said there was a lot of superstition that still surrounded black cats.
“There are great cats and kittens that aren’t being taken home because some people still believe they are a symbol for bad luck,” Cr Greaney said.
“Council wants to do everything in its power to get these animals adopted and into loving homes.
“That’s why all black cat and kitten adoptions will have a 50 per cent reduction in price from today until Saturday 14 September.”
Cr Greaney said there were plenty of happy and healthy cats and kittens ready to find their fur-ever homes.
“All cats and kittens available for adoption are de-sexed, wormed, microchipped and have had their first vaccination,” she said.

The 50 per cent-off Lucky Black Cat sale runs from Monday 9 September until Saturday 14 September.
