Two-way traffic flows down Cypress Drive
Date published: 3 October 2019
Cypress Drive in Annandale will open to two-way traffic this Friday as Townsville City Council’s works on the Southern Suburbs Rising Main approach completion.
Works along this section also involve the installation of a section of the pipe for the Recycled Water Re-use Scheme which will deliver high-quality recycled water for irrigation of community green spaces, parks and playing fields and industrial use.
Council’s Water and Waste Committee Chair Cr Russ Cook said the installation would have a long-term benefit for the Townsville community.
“This is a crucial part of the city’s infrastructure and will help to support the city’s future growth,” Cr Cook said.
Cr Cook said the final minor works would be completed in the next couple of weeks.
“We’re asking for patience from motorists, as these works will be under stop-go traffic control,” he said.
“There will be local contractors doing line marking, kerb patching and general tidying up.
“Council is very thankful for all residents’ cooperation and patience during these works.”
There will also be minor works in the centre of the Yolanda Drive/Cypress Drive roundabout, which will require occasional stop-go traffic control.
The Southern Suburbs Rising Main and Recycled Water Re-use Scheme are more than a third complete and have supported 20 local jobs.
