Controlled burns at Belgian Gardens
Date published: 24 May 2019
Weather permitting – Council is conducting hazard reduction burns to reduce the risk of wildfires around Belgian Gardens and will begin this Sunday.
Council crews will begin burning behind the Belgian Gardens School and a section of Potts St from 9am and will continue until the afternoon.
Council crews will monitor the sites over the following days.
Council asks residents to take care and follow any directions from staff during the controlled burns and residents with medical conditions affected by smoke from grass fires are encouraged to take appropriate precautions on this day should smoky conditions affect them.
These areas were identified as high risk by Council and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) and are being undertaken in conjunction with QFES.
