The Australian Festival of Chamber Music will entertain music fans at a free concert at Queens Gardens on Sunday.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said the Queens Gardens Concert will be a wonderful afternoon for the whole family.
“This free concert at 3pm is the perfect time to get the family together in the park for an enjoyable afternoon,” Cr Hill said.
“The concert will feature visiting international artists and some local favourites, including the Barrier Reef Orchestra and the 1RAR Band.
“The Australian Festival of Chamber Music has cemented itself on the national calendar for classical music fans.
“The Australian Festival of Chamber Music brings a lot of music lovers to the city and that is great for businesses across Townsville.
“This free concert is hosted by Christopher Lawrence and features prominent musicians Martin Kuuskmann, Amy Dickson and mezzo-soprano, Lotte Betts-Dean.”
Local Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney said Council is proud to present the Queens Gardens Concert alongside the Australian Festival of Chamber Music.
“We’re looking forward to seeing the crowd at this free concert and across the entire event,” Cr Greaney said.
“We’ve committed more funding to the Festival moving forward and I’m confident it will continue to grow and inject more money into the economy.”
“This concert will feature the music of popular composers Piazzolla, Morricone, Bernstein and Charles Parker so it is a great chance for families and friends to have a picnic and enjoy some world-class music.”
