Riverway facilities temporarily closed

The Riverway Arts Centre and Riverway Lagoon have been closed to repair damage from the unprecedented flood.
Townsville Local Recovery and Resilience Chair Cr Les Walker said temporary fencing will be placed around the upper and lower lagoon as well as the toddler pool in the interest of community safety.
“The pumps and filtration systems were damaged during the recent record rain event, meaning water quality cannot be maintained,” Cr Walker said.
“The Riverway Arts Centre has received significant water damage to the building.
“We are currently assessing the severity of the damage and plan to begin repairs as soon as possible.”
The Lagoon and Arts Centre will be closed until they have been restored and it is safe for residents to use the facilities.
All recovery information is available through the Emergency Management Dashboard.
