Residents are being urged to stay away from Aplins Weir because of flooding in the Ross River.
Townsville Local Disaster Management Group (TLDMG) Chair Mayor Jenny Hill said it was unsafe for residents to go on the weir.
“I’m asking everyone to use common sense and stay away from Aplins Weir while there is flooding in the Ross River,” Cr Hill said.
“Please use common sense to remain safe during this unprecedented monsoon.
“There are signs up saying the weir is closed so please obey those instructions because it is unsafe to be on Aplins Weir.”
