Townsville City Council is providing free dumping of domestic waste to help the city clean up and recover from the worst floods in memory.
Residents can dump all domestic waste at Council’s facilities free of charge until the end of the unprecedented weather event.
Townsville Water and Waste Committee Chair Russ Cook said Council has introduced free dumping for the whole community to help the flood clean up.
“This has been the biggest flood in memory and the clean up is going to be huge,” Cr Cook said.
“The whole community is banding together with their mates to help get them back on their feet after this extraordinary disaster.
“Council is doing its part to make the clean up slightly easier for people affected by these floods.
“The clean up effort is going to take quite some time, but we will get it done together.”
