Calling creative kids for Christmas flag designs
Date published: 30 August 2019
Kids across Townsville will have the chance to show off their creative Christmas flair in Townsville City Council’s Festive Flag Competition.
The competition will be open to school students from all of Townsville’s 10 divisions.
Winning designs will be printed onto flags that will adorn Townsville to celebrate Christmas this year.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said it was a collaborative way to get kids involved in the holiday season.
“Schools and students from across Townsville are invited to take part in the competition and dress the city with cheer,” she said.
“This will be a brilliant way to showcase our local talent and bring more families into the city centre this festive season. It’s a great way to be able to celebrate Christmas together.”
School-aged students are invited to submit their own design online, fitting the brief of “Christmas in the tropics”.
A design from each division will be turned into a street flag, plus an extra design of the Mayor’s choice.
