Tastebuds will be tempted when Townsville City Council unveils the first Townsville Eats event in the CBD tonight.
Tonight’s festival will include a variety of food stalls, live music and entertainment and an open-air cinema.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said it will be a wonderful night in the city.
“This is another example of how Council continues to provide events that showcase our CBD and provide a great mix of activities and entertainment for people of all ages,” Cr Hill said.
“We’ll have a wide variety of food and entertainment on Flinders Street and it’s a great way to support businesses and boost the economy.
“We had a false start on our first attempt due to the weather but it has given us more time to make the event bigger and better.
“The response to Townsville Eats has been fantastic so far and I look forward to seeing the people of Townsville come out in force to support tonight’s event.”
Local Councillor Ann-Maree Greaney said she is excited about the offerings that will be provided by local businesses.
“We’ve had a great response from local businesses and the public supporting Townsville Eats,” Cr Greaney said.
“We’ll have live music, roaming entertainment and shops in the CBD will be trading later providing something special for each member of the family.
“Council has organised a Park n Ride from Dean Street carpark to Stanley Street that will run on a continuous loop from 4pm until midnight to assist with parking and getting to and from the event.”
