Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill welcomed TransLink’s announcement of an updated timetable for the city’s bus network, a 24-hour public transport hotline and access to an online journey planner.
“This is an important first step to improving public transport services for the Townsville community,” Cr Hill said.
“Being able to access information more easily to plan a public transport journey will be a win for local public transport users.
“Townsville City Council will continue to work closely with the Queensland Government to realise further public transport improvements for our community.”
Cr Hill thanked Transport Minister Mark Bailey for listening to the Townsville community’s concerns about the city’s public transport service.
“The Minister has made an important commitment to improving bus timetables and providing more up-to-date information that is also easier to access,” Cr Hill said.
“I’d like to thank Minister Bailey for fostering a constructive relationship between Council and the Queensland Government – and also Townsville MP Scott Stewart’s continued advocacy – to deliver better bus services for locals and visitors.”
Cr Hill said these enhancements to the network will coincide with the opening of the CBD Bus Hub in mid may.
“Public transport users will soon notice a number of improvements when they use buses throughout our city,” Cr Hill said.
