Community invited to have their say on concept plan for Wordsworth Park

Townsville City Council has launched community consultation to find out what residents want included in a concept plan to upgrade Wordsworth Park.

Wordsworth Park is the only significant park space in Woodstock and Council is looking to redevelop the park into a premium area for residents to enjoy.

Local Councillor Les Walker said proposed upgrades to the park would depend on feedback given by the community but could include new lighting, barbecues, tables and new playground equipment.

“Council has an idea of how the park can be improved, but we are doing community consultation to ensure residents have their say on the upgrades,” Cr Walker said.

“We’re asking residents to complete a survey that will help us understand how the park is used and what the concept plan should look like.

"Wordsworth Park is the only park in the Woodstock area and it’s important that we get this right for the community.”

Infrastructure Committee Chair Cr Mark Molachino said Council has committed to improving infrastructure right across Townsville’s suburbs.

“Council made a commitment to residents to improve open spaces and liveability right throughout the city,” Cr Molachino said.

“Wordsworth Park is an important space for Woodstock residents – we want to ensure it gets the upgrades the community needs.”
