Online dashboards to help make Council simpler, faster, better

Townsville City Council today got a demonstration of new online dashboards as a way to improve transparency and provide the community with important information in an easy-to-use format.
The dashboard project is part of the Open Council reforms and, when completed, will provide information on water consumption, maintenance requests, building approvals, animal registrations, response times and much more.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said the new online dashboards would help ensure Council was simpler, faster and better to interact with.
“The dashboards will be like a one-stop shop for information relating to Townsville and Council,” Cr Hill said.
“Council is totally committed to ensuring residents can easily find and access information that is useful to them.
“There’s a lot of information already on Council’s websites and other Queensland government departments but it is scattered in many different areas.
“The dashboards will consolidate this information in one place where residents can go and easily search for what they want.”
Governance and Finance Committee Chair Cr Verena Coombe said the demonstration of the dashboards was valuable for everyone to understand their potential benefits.
“The first online dashboards will be up and running soon,” Cr Coombe said.
“This project will continue to evolve and we will be making regular refinements to ensure we are providing the information our community wants and in a simple format.
“We will keep the community informed about when the dashboards will be up and running and once they are, we’d like to hear feedback about how they work.”
