Townsville’s most friendly neighbourhoods have been awarded as part of local Neighbour Day celebrations.
Townsville City Council today announced the winners of its Neighbour Day competition which gave locals the chance to win $300 to host their own Neighbour Day event.
Some of the entrants included groups of neighbours from Oak Valley, Mundingburra, Kirwan, Burdell and Alligator Creek.
Community and Cultural Development Committee Chair Cr Colleen Doyle said she was impressed with the number and quality of entries.
“This is the second year we’ve run the competition and the response we’ve had this year has been amazing,” Cr Doyle said.
“We had entries from all over the city and its surrounds, all telling stories about the incredible community spirit that exists here in Townsville.”
