Two weeks to go until Festival 2018
Date published: 21 March 2018
The wait is almost over with just two weeks until Festival 2018 brings Townsville to life with music, dance, visual arts, theatre, cabaret, circus and more.
The 12-day arts and culture festival kicks off on April 4 with up to 12 hours of events each day in three iconic locations: Strand Park, Queens Gardens and Jezzine Barracks.
Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said the event would be on a scale never before seen in Townsville.
“With more than 160 events over the 12 days featuring 665 artists and performers, this is going to be an event our city will remember for a long time to come,” Cr Hill said.
The festival’s stellar line-up includes comedian Peter Helliar, Thundamentals, Ian Moss, Archie Roach, Caiti Baker, Diesel, Lior, Vaudeville Smash, Peter Combe, and Jay Laga’aia.
Cr Hill said now was the time to reserve tickets to avoid disappointment.
“Up to 95 percent of the events are free but some still require tickets because of limited seating at some of the venues,” she said.
“We’ve already had some shows selling out and others getting very close so people need to get in quick to make sure they don’t miss out.”
Tickets are available now from Council’s website or the Box Office at Townsville Civic Theatre and Riverway Arts Centre.
